Andrejs Laipnieks Secures Tenth Openkart Championship Title With Kandava Victory

Andrejs Laipnieks secured his tenth Openkart championship title after capturing his 87th career victory at the 15th round of the championship held on September 6, 2026, at the Kandava Kartodrom, according to reporting from openkart.lv by Uldis Galdiņš.

Driving for Movers.lv, Laipnieks delivered a dominant performance in rental karting, maintaining a pace roughly 0.1 to 0.2 seconds faster than his competitors. According to openkart.lv, his achievement marks a major milestone in a career spanning 13 seasons, during which he has competed in 12 full seasons and captured ten titles. The only driver to defeat him across those years has been Krišs Jaunzemis, who also debuted in the 2013 season.

Kandava Podium and Race Results

The 15th round at the Kandava track featured fierce competition across multiple classes and categories. According to openkart.lv, Ādams Šics of the Movers.lv Juniori team finished second after racing in the reverse direction, while Benas De La Mare of Vilniai Racing claimed third place.

ADTS Racing leaders Sergejs Ļesiks and Otīlija Grandberga finished fourth and sixth respectively, with young Lithuanian driver and Vilniai Racing competitor Simas Veršickas inserting himself between them in fifth place. In the team standings, Movers.lv took top honors with 110 points, edging out Vilniai Racing on a tiebreaker as both teams finished level on points. Movers.lv Juniori followed closely in third with 109 points, while ADTS Racing narrowly missed the podium with 108 points.

Additional racing categories saw Ādams Šics win the Challenge Cup, ahead of Benas De La Mare and Simas Veršickas. According to openkart.lv, the 95+ support class victory went to Raivis Liberts (Sēļu Zeme), followed by Artūrs Tūcis in second and overall standings leader Nils Kūla in third. Otīlija Grandberga swept the Women’s division and secured the junior victory.
