andrew and Tristan Tate to Face rape Charges in UK After Romania Case
Updated May 29, 2024
Andrew and Tristan Tate will return to the United Kingdom to defend themselves against rape and other offenses, according to Andrew Ford, their lawyer at Holborn Adams. The brothers face separate charges in Romania, but will address the UK allegations upon conclusion of those proceedings, Ford said.
Andrew Tate, 38, faces 10 charges, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for gain, involving three women. Tristan Tate, 36, is charged with 11 offenses, including rape, actual bodily harm, and human trafficking, related to one woman. These charges were authorized in January, but details were recently disclosed.

Bedfordshire Police issued an international arrest warrant for the brothers concerning allegations from 2012 to 2015, wich the Tates “unequivocally deny.” Their legal team claims “a vast amount of misinformation” exists regarding the allegations, potentially impacting their right to a fair trial. They also accuse the Crown prosecution Service (CPS) and police of non-cooperation.
Holborn Adams stated that UK prosecutors are withholding basic information, preventing their clients from understanding the allegations. They argue that the historic nature of the allegations and the lack of victim identification demonstrate an unusual approach due to the Tates’ high profile. The firm added,”As and when the time presents itself,we will rigorously defend our clients.”
The Tate brothers also face allegations in Romania of trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor, and money laundering. another case accuses them of human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women, which has been sent back to prosecutors.
UK prosecutors have requested the brothers’ extradition from Romania after the conclusion of proceedings there. The CPS stated that “domestic criminal matters in Romania must be settled first.” The tates deny all allegations in Romania.
matt Jury, a lawyer at McCue Jury & partners representing alleged British victims of Andrew Tate, welcomed the CPS’s efforts to ensure the Tates face justice in the UK. He urged the CPS to admit its past failure to prosecute Tate and to charge him for the alleged rape and assault of his clients, who filed complaints as early as 2014.
Tate’s lawyers addressed these allegations, stating that the High Court case, scheduled for trial in 2027, is a civil matter brought for compensation. Andrew Tate will “rigorously defend himself with our full support,” they said.
What’s next
The Tate brothers will remain in Romania while those legal proceedings continue. Once those matters are resolved, extradition to the UK will be considered to address the charges of rape and human trafficking.
