Google announced teh rollout of gemini for Android Auto in november 2025, but access remains limited for most drivers as of late January 2026.
First announced in May 2025, Google confirmed rollout plans in November, stating the feature would become available “over the coming months.” However, over two months later, many drivers still haven’t gained access.
Discussion forums like r/AndroidAuto are filled with users reporting they still lack access. A 9to5Google poll conducted earlier this month revealed that 92% of respondents do not have Gemini on Android auto, with only 3% reporting access within the past couple of weeks.

Early reactions to Gemini on Android Auto have been mixed. While some users appreciate the conversational interface, bugs have been reported, including Gemini continuing to speak after an action is completed and instances of the system talking to itself.
Google has not provided updates regarding wider rollout plans, indicating the feature is not yet broadly available.
