⁣ Updated June 25, 2025

Google is rolling out an update to Android devices that will require users to review and adjust their Find Hub privacy settings during the initial device setup. This change seeks to address a long-standing issue with Google’s tracker network, giving users more control over their device’s ⁤ location privacy.

The update, detailed in the⁤ June 2025 Google system services changelog, introduces a new step⁢ in⁢ the setup process. Users will ‍be prompted to configure Find Hub, allowing the device to be located remotely.

The new setup screen presents two options. The default, “Findable in busy places only,” ‍corresponds to the ⁣existing “high-traffic only” setting.⁣ Google ⁢notes that this option “may make it harder to find items in remote areas.”‍ The choice, “Findable everywhere,” aligns with the “in all areas” ⁤setting.

The full rollout of the updated‍ Find Hub settings is anticipated in the coming months. ⁣This change is expected⁣ to⁢ enhance⁢ the effectiveness of Google’s Find ⁢My Device network by⁤ giving ⁣users more explicit control over their location privacy and device findability.
