Anfield Fortress: Can Liverpool’s Home Advantage Prove Too Much for Leverkusen
English Liverpool, led by its Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, is engaged in an expected and tough battle against German Bayer Leverkusen, which is scheduled to take place this evening, Tuesday, in the European Champions League.
Anfield Stadium will host Liverpool’s match against Bayer Leverkusen in the fourth round of the Champions League tonight at 10 o’clock.
Liverpool are looking for their fourth straight win in Champions League after winning 3-1 against Milan, 2-0 against Bologna and 1-0 against Leipzig in the first 3 rounds.
Leverkusen, led by Xabi Alonso, on the other hand, secured two wins against Feyenoord (4-0) and Milan (1-0) before drawing 1-1 with French side Brest.
Liverpool’s official website states that the Reds are yet to lose to a German side at Anfield in Europe.
He added that Liverpool have faced German clubs in 20 matches at Anfield, winning 16 times, drawing four matches and keeping a clean sheet in 14 matches.
In general, Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 13 matches against a German side in all European competitions (10 wins and 3 draws) since a 4-2 loss to Leverkusen in April 2002.
Liverpool have scored 32 goals in their last 12 European matches at Anfield, and only Atalanta – who kept a clean sheet – have prevented them from scoring at least two goals.
If Salah and his teammates win tonight against Leverkusen, Liverpool will be able to win the first four matches of the Champions League for the sixth time in their history.
