A Digital Party from Her Twins
The Wakanda Forever star received heartfelt birthday wishes from her fraternal twins, Bronwyn Golden Vance and Slater Josiah Vance. One twin shared a touching message alongside a photo of Bassett and her husband, Courtney B. Vance, enjoying a dinner together: “Happy birthday to the most amazing woman! I love you, Mom.”
The other twin posted a joyful video of Bassett spontaneously dancing after being surprised with a birthday song, capturing a moment of pure happiness.
Bassett and Vance welcomed their twins via surrogate on January 27, 2006, following their marriage in 1997. Now that Bronwyn and Slater are pursuing their education in college, Bassett has been reflecting on the transition to an “empty nest.” In a February interview with Hello!, she acknowledged the significant shift for both her children and herself.
“it’s a great, big transition for them,” she explained, adding, ”But I think you underestimate the transition that it is for you.” She described the emotional impact of no longer having their daily presence, stating, “You think your gonna cry…But it’s about going home in the house now, not hearing their voice, their energy not coming through.”
Reminiscing Through Memories
To cherish the years of raising her children, Bassett and Vance have created a heartwarming tradition of revisiting family memories. They utilize digital picture frames to cycle through photos documenting their children’s growth. “Sometimes I just get caught looking at all the different stages, and you just ‘oh and ah,’ and I really have to tell courtney, ‘Please turn it off!’ I can’t get anything done,” Bassett shared with a laugh.
“Because you just remember the love,” she continued, reflecting on 18 years of parenthood. “18 years and you’re back to old places, what it was before they arrived.’It’s you, me, and the dog.'”
