Angela Neeley Champions Heart Health in Northeast Ohio’s Leaders of Impact™ Campaign
Angela Neeley, MBA, is a champion of heart health in Northeast Ohio. She is concluding the American Heart Association‘s first Leaders of Impact™ campaign in the area.
“Angela’s efforts help everyone in Akron have better chances for longer, healthier lives,” said Lisa Wheeler-Cooper, executive director for the American Heart Association in Northeast Ohio. “We are working to improve access to quality healthcare and tackle health disparities, creating a thriving community for future generations.”
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S. Projections show that by 2050, the costs of cardiovascular disease will nearly triple due to an aging population and rising risk factors among younger people.
Over seven weeks, Neeley participated in a fundraising campaign with nominees nationwide. “Leaders of Impact was personal for me because my mom had open heart surgery,” said Neeley. “Our family knows the importance of the work of the American Heart Association. I wanted to promote a healthy lifestyle to help others.”
For over 100 years, the American Heart Association has worked to remove health barriers, invest in research, educate, and advocate for health policies. In Northeast Ohio, the focus is on blood pressure control and CPR training.
The Leaders of Impact campaign started on October 17 and ends on December 4. Each participant aims to raise awareness and funds to support the mission of the American Heart Association.
