JolieS transformation into Callas involved intensive preparation, including taking Italian classes and studying opera. She also reflected on the evolution of celebrity interviews, noting a shift from in-depth conversations about craft to more superficial interactions.
“When you think about the old interviews, there was a fuller conversation that was able to be had,” jolie observed. “I watched Callas’s really old interviews and they spent hours talking to her about her craft. Nobody’s ever done that for me. She was taken seriously.”

Jolie’s career has spanned decades, from her early roles to her status as a Hollywood A-lister, consistently ranking among Forbes’ highest-paid actors. She is known for her roles in films like “Maleficent,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” and “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” as well as her Academy Award-winning performance in “Girl, Interrupted” and her Oscar-nominated role in “Changeling.”
“Maria” delves into the final days of Callas’s life in 1970s Paris, exploring the tragic events that shaped the life of one of the world’s most celebrated sopranos.

The film’s release comes amidst Jolie’s ongoing legal battle with her former husband, Brad Pitt, following their divorce in 2016. The couple shares six children, with their daughter Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt recently requesting a legal name change.
“Maria” opens in theaters nationwide on January 10th.
