Anna Wintour to step Back From Vogue Role,Focus on Condé Nast
Anna Wintour,75,is stepping down from one of her roles at Vogue,according to sources. While relinquishing this position, the influential figure in fashion will remain chief content officer for Condé Nast, overseeing publications such as Wired, Vanity Fair, GQ and Condé Nast Traveler. She will also continue her role as Vogue’s global editorial director.
Vogue U.S. is now searching for a new head of editorial content. Condé Nast has not yet issued a formal statement.
Wintour became editor-in-chief of Vogue in 1988 and has remained a powerful force in the fashion industry. She is considered by many to be the most powerful figure in fashion. Her persona is believed to have inspired the character Miranda Priestly in “The Devil Wears Prada.”
Wintour addressed the connection to the film in 2009, telling 60 minutes, “It was entertainment. It was not a true rendition of what happens within this magazine.”
