Annabelle, a young athlete, benefits from strong athletic genes. Her father, Olusoji Fasuba, claimed the World Indoor 60m title in 2008. He also secured an Olympic bronze in the 4x100m relay in 2004 and a Commonwealth Games silver in 2006. His 100m personal best of 9.85 seconds, achieved in May 2006, stood as the African record until Akani Simbine of South Africa broke it in July 2021.

“My husband was good, I was good…Annabelle being fast is not like it’s a surprise, becuase I know it’s what she took from us,” Ngozi said, acknowledging her daughter’s inherited talent.
“Watching what my daughter is doing now compared to that time, I think she’s going to achieve more than what I’ve ever done in my career and I think that’s every father’s dream,” Olusoji said.
