Anne burrell, the Food Network star known for “Worst Cooks in America,” had planned a career change before her death at age 55. Burrell, who also hosted “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef,” wanted to pursue acting and had recently started taking improv classes.
In March, Burrell spoke on Tori Spelling‘s ”Misspelling” podcast about her new interest. “Interestingly, I just started taking acting classes,” Burrell said. “It’s like an improv for actors’ class.” She noted the age gap between herself and her classmates, joking about being the oldest one in the class.
Burrell had taken a break from “Worst Cooks In America” before her death. When Spelling inquired about this decision on the podcast, Burrell explained, “I can cook, yes, I can do TV, but also, what else? I’ve got more to do in my life, I feel like.” she added that she was “dipping my toe” into acting and was excited about the future.
The news of Burrell’s death comes as the investigation into the incident continues.she was found unresponsive in her Brooklyn apartment on Tuesday. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that a large quantity of “unknown pills” were found near her body.Another source told The Post that the quantity was in the “dozens.”
Her husband, Stuart Claxton, reportedly found Burrell on the shower floor early Tuesday morning. He last saw her alive around 1 a.m. and discovered her unresponsive six to seven hours later. claxton called 911 and was instructed to perform CPR, but it is unclear if he did so.
The New York Fire Department confirmed they responded to a report of cardiac arrest at 7:50 a.m. Police pronounced Burrell dead at the scene. The cause of death is under investigation by the Office of chief Medical Examiner.
EMS attempted CPR but were unable to resuscitate her, according to TMZ.
