Just days after leaving RC Lens, the Anglo-Belgian coach is nearing an agreement with the Saints, according to sky Sports.
Southampton, finishing at the bottom of the Premier League and facing relegation, are reportedly finalizing a deal with the 32-year-old Still. The club hopes to have Still appointed before their final Premier League match against arsenal on Sunday.
Personal Reasons factor Into Decision
Still’s departure from RC Lens, where he was under contract until 2027, may involve compensation for the French club. He recently turned down an offer from Glasgow Rangers and was also a target for Hull City.
Still, appointed last summer to a three-year contract, cited a desire to be closer to his seriously ill partner as a key factor in his decision.Emma Saunders, a presenter for Sky Sports, was hospitalized earlier this year with encephalitis, following a battle with thyroid cancer.
RC Lens finished the season in eighth place with 52 points. The club retains a slim chance of qualifying for European competition if Paris Saint-germain wins the Coupe de France and Olympique Lyonnais faces a ban from European competitions due to financial difficulties.
