Jerusalem, Israel – A recent report by the cybersecurity firm CyberWell has revealed a dramatic surge in online hate speech targeting the Druze community, with a particular focus on conspiratorial antisemitic rhetoric. The association documented a staggering 13,000% increase in daily posts, reaching 3,700 per day, a stark escalation from the usual baseline. this wave of incitement, characterized by the depiction of Druze individuals as proxies for the concept of “Greater Israel,” has been escalating since April 2025.
Escalating Pattern Since April
CyberWell’s findings indicate that the trend of anti-Druze incitement began to rise significantly in April 2025,following a visit to Israel by a delegation of Syrian Druze. Despite CyberWell raising concerns with major social media platforms at the time, the organization claims that a considerable portion of the inciting content remained unaddressed.
The report frames this trend within the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism. This definition includes conspiracies that target non-Jews based on their perceived or actual connections to Jewish people or Israel. The escalating rhetoric suggests a deliberate effort to link the Druze community to Israeli interests, thereby fueling animosity.
Call for Urgent Action
In response to these alarming findings, CyberWell CEO Tal-Or Cohen Montemayor issued a direct appeal to social media companies, urging them to confront what she described as a “modern plague of antisemitism.”
“We are witnessing a disturbing escalation in violent rhetoric against the Druze community in Syria, which has a risky and direct impact on the community,” Montemayor stated. “Antisemitic incitement and rhetoric create a dangerous foundation for legitimizing attacks on minorities perceived as supporters of Israel. The duty lies with social media companies. They must recognise the modern plague of antisemitism and act decisively to stop it. Partial or inconsistent enforcement costs lives.”
Deadly Consequences of Online Hate
CyberWell highlighted a particularly concerning instance that underscores the potential real-world ramifications of unchecked online incitement. in July 2024, a video posted on Instagram that explicitly called for attacks on Druze individuals, referring to them as “Zionists,” remained online for several days leading up to a terrorist attack in Majdal Shams. This attack resulted in the tragic deaths of 12 Druze children, all of whom were Israeli citizens.
The organization concluded that its data serves as a critical warning, providing evidence that digital hate speech, especially in conflict zones, can directly fuel violence. CyberWell’s report emphasizes the urgent need for social media platforms to implement robust measures.
“CyberWell demands not only the removal of dangerous content,” the report concluded, “but the implementation of a clear, zero-tolerance policy toward antisemitic discourse-of any kind, and against any group.” the firm advocates for a proactive approach to content moderation, recognizing that the spread of hate speech online can have devastating consequences offline.
