Anvisa Orders Recall of Medicines with Switched Packaging
Brazil’s national Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has ordered the recall of medications with irregularities and the seizure of counterfeit drug batches. The measures affect six different products, including those used to treat gastrointestinal issues, allergies, and tumors.
Lot OA3169 of medquímica’s Pantoprazol Sodium Sesquihydrate 40mg, used for gastrointestinal problems, was recalled after its packaging was found to be swapped with that of Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg, a medication for high blood pressure. The issue was identified by the manufacturer.
Anvisa states that only the cited lot has had its commercialization, distribution, and use suspended.
