Andhra Pradesh Shakes Up Education: First-Year Inter Exams Scrapped

Hyderabad,IL – In a move aimed at easing the academic pressure on students, the Andhra Pradesh Board of secondary Education (BSEAP) has announced a groundbreaking change: the cancellation of Intermediate first-year public examinations, effective immediately.

This decision, according to BSEAP Secretary Kritika shukla, is designed to “reduce the pressure of examinations on students.”

A New Era of Assessment

Instead of annual exams, a new system will be implemented, with 20 marks allocated for internal assessments in each subject. This shift emphasizes continuous evaluation through projects, presentations, and classwork, offering a more holistic view of student understanding.

The first-year syllabus will now be taught in both Telugu and English mediums, making education more accessible. Reports indicate that the NCERT syllabus for first-year Inter students will see significant reductions, particularly in Math and Chemistry.

Seeking Feedback, shaping the Future

Recognizing the magnitude of this reform, the BSEAP is actively seeking feedback from students, teachers, and other stakeholders. Opinions can be submitted through the BSEAP website until January 26th.

“There have been no changes in the Inter Board for the last few years,” Shukla noted, highlighting the importance of this reform.

New Exam Schedule Released

Meanwhile, the BSEAP has released the timetable for the 2025 AP SSC and Inter exams.Students can download the AP 10th and 12th exam date sheets from the official website, bse.ap.gov.in.

The AP SSC exams will be held from March 17 to 31, 2025. Second-year Inter exams are scheduled from March 3 to March 20, 2025.

Breathing Room for Students?

The decision has sparked conversations across the state, with many students expressing relief at the reduced pressure.”It’s a huge weight off our shoulders,” said Riya,a first-year Inter student.”Exams can be incredibly stressful, and this new system seems much fairer.”

Her friend, Anjali, agreed. “I think it’s great that thay’re focusing on continuous assessment. It gives us a chance to learn and grow throughout the year, not just cram for one big test.”

The long-term impact of this change remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Andhra Pradesh is taking bold steps to reshape its education system, putting student well-being at the forefront.

Andhra Pradesh Scraps Frist-Year Inter Exams: A Closer Look

Maya: Did you hear about the big news from the Andhra Pradesh Board of secondary Education?

Raj: No, what’s going on? Is it something about the exams?

Maya: You got it! They’ve actually decided to scrap the first-year Inter exams completely, starting right now.

Raj: Wow, that’s huge! What’s the reason behind this decision?

Maya: Apparently, they want to reduce the pressure on students. they say annual exams can be really stressful, and they’re looking for a more holistic way to assess learning.

Raj: So, how are they going to evaluate students then?

Maya: Rather of one big exam, they’ll be using continuous assessment. each subject will have 20 marks allocated for things like projects, presentations, and regular classroom work.

Raj: That sounds interesting. Is there anything else changing?

Maya: Yes! The syllabus for first-year Inter is going to be taught in both Telugu and English. Plus, they’re planning to reduce the content in subjects like Math and Chemistry.

Raj: Wow, these are significant changes. But why make such a drastic shift now?

Maya: According to the BSEAP Secretary, Kritika Shukla, there haven’t been any major changes to the Inter Board system in quite a while. They see this as a way to modernize education and make it more student-friendly.

Raj: I bet students are happy about this!

Maya: Absolutely! I saw some students commenting online, saying it’s a huge relief and they feel like this new system is fairer.

Raj: Neat. What about the exams for the other years?

Maya: The second-year Inter exams are still happening, and the BSEAP already released the exam schedule for both SSC and Inter exams in 2025.

Raj: That’s good to know. So, what happens next?

Maya: They’re actually asking for feedback from everyone – students, teachers, parents – until the end of January. You can submit your thoughts through the BSEAP website.

Raj: That’s awesome! It’s great to see them involving the community in this big decision.

Maya: Definitely. It seems like Andhra Pradesh is taking some bold steps towards a better, more balanced education system. it will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
