Apple Expands App Store Submission Options and Custom Product Pages

On February 29, 2024, Apple announced changes to the App Store submission process, allowing developers to submit additional content and updates while their apps are under review, increased the number of custom product pages, and expanded In-App Purchase code options.
New Submission Flexibility
Previously,developers generally needed to wait for an existing app version to be reviewed before submitting additional content. As of february 29, 2024, Apple now allows developers to submit certain items to App Review independently of an existing app version submission, according to an official announcement on the Apple Developer website. This change aims to provide developers with greater control and efficiency in managing their app updates.
Specifically,developers can now submit:
- In-app Events separately from an app version under review.
- App versions addressing critical bugs, self-reliant of custom product page reviews.
- Game Center features (achievements, leaderboards, challenges) in a separate submission.
Apple provides detailed documentation on managing submissions to App Review on their developer portal.
Expanded Custom Product Pages
Custom product pages allow developers to showcase different aspects of their app or game with tailored screenshots, app previews, and promotional text. On February 29, 2024, Apple increased the limit of custom product pages developers can create and publish simultaneously from 35 to 70, as reported by Apple. This increase provides developers with more opportunities to A/B test marketing materials and target specific user segments.
Along with the increased page limit, developers can now assign keywords to each custom product page. This feature, also announced on February 29, 2024, is intended to improve the discoverability of custom pages within the App Store search results, according to Apple’s announcement.
In-App Purchase Codes for All Types
Apple has expanded the availability of promotional codes for In-App Purchases (IAPs). Previously, codes were limited to certain IAP types. As of February 29, 2024, developers can now generate codes for all types of IAPs, as detailed by Apple.This change allows for more flexible promotional campaigns and targeted user incentives.
