App State Wrestling Hosts West Virginia in Exciting Season Opener

App State Wrestling kicks off its 2024-25 season with a thrilling dual against No. 19 West Virginia. The match will take place at 7 p.m. in Varsity Gym. Tickets are available for $15 for general admission and $20 for a premium seat in the new section.

The newly upgraded Varsity Gym features a fresh competition mat and a large videoboard, enhancing the match experience. Fans can enjoy giveaways, including “Takedown” foam fingers for the first 250 attendees and headbands.

This season’s home matches will be streamed live on FloWrestling, requiring a subscription for access. Fans can park at the Rivers Street Deck, located near the gym.

Varsity Gym enforces a clear bag policy. Approved bags include clear plastic bags (maximum size 12″ x 6″ x 12″) and small clutch purses (no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″). Items that are not allowed include backpacks, oversized bags, and purses exceeding size limits.

This dual marks only the second meeting between App State and West Virginia, with the previous encounter ending in a West Virginia victory (26-16) in 1985.

West Virginia enters with strong performances, defeating Glenville State and Rider. Key wrestlers include Peyton Hall, a four-time NCAA qualifier, and Ty Watters, a 2024 All-American. Jordan Titus is also ranked in the top 15 at 141 pounds.

App State returns experienced wrestlers, including Will Miller and Tomas Brooker, who qualified for the NCAA Championships. Miller has secured wins against two ranked opponents this season. Other returning starters are Chad Bellis, Luke Uliano, and Carson Floyd.

The season is supported by Hungry Howie’s and Penn Station, promising an exciting atmosphere for wrestling fans.
