App Store Announces Pricing Updates for Brazil, Kazakhstan
Updated May 25, 2025
The Apple app Store is updating prices for apps and in-app purchases in Brazil and Kazakhstan, while also implementing new consent requirements for auto-renewable subscription price increases in several European countries. The changes aim to reflect tax regulations and maintain price consistency across its 175 storefronts.
Effective May 16, proceeds from eligible apps and in-app purchases in Brazil have been modified to account for the introduction of a 10% Contribuições de Intervenção no Domínio Econômico (CIDE) tax for developers based outside of Brazil. Further pricing updates for both brazil and Kazakhstan are scheduled to begin June 2, provided developers have not selected either country as the base storefront for their app or in-app purchase.
If Brazil or Kazakhstan is the designated base storefront, prices will remain unchanged. Though, on other storefronts, prices will be adjusted to maintain equalization with the chosen base price. These adjustments do not affect auto-renewable subscriptions or storefronts where prices are manually managed.
In Austria, Germany, and Poland, all auto-renewable subscription price increases starting August 4 will require explicit customer consent. For increases scheduled on or after this date, Apple will request consent weekly via email, push notifications, and in-app messaging until the subscriber agrees or their subscription expires.
What’s next
Developers should review the Pricing and Availability section of App Store Connect to understand upcoming price changes and adjust their strategies accordingly. They should also avoid scheduling price increases between August 2 and August 4 to ensure a smooth transition with the new consent requirements.
