AirPods 4 Review: A Welcome Evolution with a USB-C Twist

It’s been a long ⁣time coming, ⁣but apple ⁤has finaly delivered the AirPods 4, a much-anticipated ⁣upgrade that lands nearly three years⁢ after the AirPods 3. These new earbuds bring a host of⁤ thoughtful⁤ improvements, addressing some key ⁢areas and offering a refined listening⁣ experience.Let’s dive into what⁢ makes the AirPods 4 a compelling option for Apple users.

Redesigned for⁣ Comfort and Durability

One of the most noticeable changes is the redesigned “hairdryer” form factor. Apple has shortened the stem while maintaining the beloved ergonomic, semi-open shape and lightweight build ⁤that made the AirPods 3 so ⁣comfortable. This subtle tweak contributes to a ⁢more streamlined look and feel.

Beyond aesthetics, ⁤the AirPods 4 boast ⁤more rugged IP54 dust and water resistance. This⁣ is a meaningful upgrade, offering much-needed protection against dust, sweat, and rain, making them a ‍more reliable ⁣companion for workouts or unpredictable ⁣weather.

Innovative In-Ear Sensing

Apple has ditched ⁢the skin-detect sensor in favor⁤ of a new, optional in-ear sensor. ⁤This change promises more accurate wear⁤ detection, ensuring your music pauses and resumes precisely‍ when you take the earbuds out or put them back in.The redesigned⁤ air vents are another subtle yet critically important enhancement, aimed at improving sound quality and clarity by optimizing pressurization.

The Power of the H2 Chip and Enhanced audio

Under the⁤ hood, the AirPods 4 are powered by the new H2 audio chip, a significant leap from the older H1 chip. While the default sound profile is described‍ as flat, Apple’s signature adaptability shines through⁢ with the ability‍ to adjust the equalizer to your preference. This means you can tailor the sound to your liking, whether you prefer a bass-heavy experience or a‍ more neutral output.

Crystal-Clear Calls and immersive Spatial audio

Voice ‍calling receives a significant boost ⁣thanks to advanced computational audio and Voice Isolation. These technologies⁢ work in tandem to minimize background noise, ensuring your conversations are clearer and⁢ more focused,‍ even in noisy environments.

Perhaps one of the most surprising features is the inclusion of ‍Spatial Audio with head tracking. When enabled and ⁢paired with compatible ‍content, this technology creates‍ a truly immersive listening experience, making it feel as though the sound is coming from all around you. It’s a feature that elevates⁣ movie watching and music listening to a new ⁤level.

Battery⁣ Life and the USB-C Transition

For those opting for the AirPods 4 (non-ANC version),there’s a slight reduction in battery ⁤life compared to the AirPods⁢ 3. however, the overall ⁢listening time remains‍ competitive. You can expect around 5 hours of ⁣playback on a single charge, with the compact charging case providing an additional⁣ 25 hours, bringing the total listening time to a respectable 30 ⁣hours.

The ‍most significant practical ⁤change for many will be the integration of a USB-C port on the charging case. This long-overdue switch from the proprietary Lightning port offers⁢ greater flexibility and ⁤convenience, allowing users to charge their AirPods with the same cable used for many other modern devices.
