Apple has expanded the app ecosystem for CarPlay, introducing three popular iPhone applications to the vehicle dashboard interface. As of April 4, 2026, ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack are available for use within the system, providing new capabilities for AI interaction, professional communication, and music streaming while driving.
The integration of these apps is tied to specific software requirements. Users must have the latest version of each application installed on their iPhone for them to automatically appear on the CarPlay interface.
AI Integration with ChatGPT
The addition of OpenAI’s ChatGPT marks a significant shift in how third-party AI chatbots interact with the automotive environment. This functionality is supported starting with iOS 26.4, a version of the mobile operating system that introduced native CarPlay support for voice-based conversational apps.
Under this new framework, chatbots can extend their iPhone applications to CarPlay to facilitate voice-based conversations. ChatGPT is among the first options available to utilize this support, allowing drivers to engage in back-and-forth, hands-free voice conversations while the app is open.
To maintain driver safety, Apple and OpenAI have implemented specific interface restrictions. While users can view the titles of their past conversations on the dashboard, the app does not display the actual text or images within those conversations.
Technical reports indicate that iOS 26.4 provides the necessary infrastructure for other third-party AI chatbots, such as Google Gemini and Claude, to potentially integrate with CarPlay in a similar manner.
Professional Communication via Google Meet
Google Meet has also debuted on CarPlay, bringing professional meeting tools to the car. The integration allows users to join meetings with a single tap and view their upcoming schedules directly from the dashboard.

The service supports participation in audio calls. However, for safety reasons, the CarPlay interface prohibits the viewing of video calls.
Music Streaming with Audiomack
Audiomack, which ranks as the 11th-most downloaded app in the U.S. App Store’s Music category, expanded its services to CarPlay on April 4, 2026. The platform focuses on independent artists, with a particular emphasis on hip-hop and Afrobeats genres.
The CarPlay version of the app includes several dedicated tabs to help users manage their audio experience:
- Discover
- Charts
- Playlists
- My Library
These tabs allow drivers to access their existing song libraries and discover new music through the vehicle’s interface.
Future Updates and Beta Testing
Beyond the current releases, WhatsApp is currently beta testing a revamped CarPlay application. While WhatsApp already exists on CarPlay, its current utility is limited to basic Siri-based functionality.
The version currently in beta testing aims to improve this experience by providing a more native interface. The revamped app will feature lists of recent phone calls and chats, as well as a dedicated tab for a user’s favorite contacts.
