Apple is reducing component production for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max by roughly 15 percent for the month of October due to slowing market demand and rising memory prices, GSMArena reported.
Memory Price Pressures and Lower Demand Drive Production Cuts
The reduction stems from softening demand for the iPhone 18 Pro series amid an ongoing crisis in memory component pricing. Market interest in the newest Pro models is running lower compared to other years, though the scope of this slowdown remains complex. While broader indicators point to a cooler market, earlier regional reports from China suggested record-setting sales figures for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max within that specific market.
This inventory strategy aligns closely with actions taken by competitor Samsung. Samsung reportedly trimmed its own production by 30 percent for the final quarter of the year due to escalating component costs. By scaling back output, both companies aim to prevent excess unsold stock from accumulating as they manage slower sales and high production expenses.
Hardware Specifications of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max
The affected devices feature significant hardware configurations designed for the high-end market segment. The Apple iPhone 18 Pro incorporates a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED display supporting a 120Hz refresh rate. It runs on the Apple A20 Pro processor paired with 12GB of RAM and offers storage configurations extending up to 2TB.
Meanwhile, the larger Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max steps up to a 6.9-inch LTPO OLED display. The device includes a triple rear camera array featuring 48-megapixel sensors with variable aperture, 4x zoom, and optical image stabilization. Like its smaller counterpart, the Pro Max operates on the Apple A20 Pro chip with 12GB of RAM and up to 2TB of internal storage capacity.
