Prevalence of Connected Devices
A study by Parks Associates,titled “Dashboard for consumer knowledge: dashboard of the technological ecosystem,” found that as of recently,51% of american households connected to the Internet own either a smart speaker or a connected screen (such as Amazon Echo or Google Nest Hub).
Among connected speaker purchases made in the six months preceding the study, Amazon devices accounted for the largest market share at 60%, followed by Google products at 18%, and Apple HomePod at 8%.
Ecosystem Reach by Company
Apple currently boasts the moast extensive technological ecosystem, reaching 61% of American households wiht internet access.This ecosystem encompasses a wide range of devices.
Amazon’s ecosystem reaches 46% of households and is primarily built around smart speakers, streaming media players, and, to a lesser extent, tablets.
google’s ecosystem extends to 29% of households, with a strong focus on smart speakers and connected screens.
Samsung’s ecosystem reaches 50% of households,largely driven by the popularity of its smartphones and smart televisions.
Microsoft has the broadest reach, touching 64% of households, but its ecosystem is heavily concentrated in computers and extended through Xbox gaming consoles.
