Apple has released the third public beta of iOS 18.2 on November 20. This update comes after the fourth developer beta was also released on the same day. The new beta follows the public launch of iOS 18.1, which introduced several features for iPhones. The iOS 18.2 beta adds more AI features for select developers and testers, along with additional improvements available to all users.

Since this is a beta version, it is recommended to download it on a secondary device rather than your main phone to avoid potential bugs and battery issues. The final version of iOS 18.2 has not yet been announced.

Key Features in the iOS 18.2 Beta:

  1. Find My Improvements: The Find My app now allows users to share the location of lost items and show contact information for potential finders.

  2. New Mail Categories: The Mail app can now sort emails into multiple categories, similar to Gmail. Users can revert to the previous layout if they prefer.

  3. Volume Slider on Lock Screen: Users can re-enable the volume slider on the lock screen through Settings, adding convenience for music control.

  4. Speaker Volume Limit: A new feature allows users to set a maximum volume limit to prevent potential speaker damage, especially for kids.

  5. Genmoji: This new feature allows users to describe an emoji they want, and their iPhones will generate a matching emoji.

  6. Visual Intelligence: This feature lets users point their camera at objects or text to search online for information, such as identifying animals or translating languages. It works in conjunction with ChatGPT.

  7. Image Playground: A standalone app that creates images based on text prompts, allowing users to customize and refine their creations.

  8. Glowing Siri and ChatGPT Integration: Siri receives a visual update with glowing interactions and can now use ChatGPT to answer queries. Users can copy and paste responses easily.

  9. Camera Control Toggle: For the iPhone 16 lineup, a new toggle allows the camera to be opened with a single press of the Camera Control button, even if the screen is off.

These features are available to public beta testers currently. More changes may come as Apple continues to refine iOS 18.2. There is no specific release date for the public version yet.
