Apple has launched a new beta version of its iOS 18.4 operating system for developers, which includes various outstanding improvements. Among these enhancements is the expansion of its Apple Intelligence ecosystem to languages such as Spanish, allowing its access in countries of the European Union, including Spain.

This integration, announced in the World Developer Conference (WWDC) in 2024, provides tools based on artificial intelligence (AI) that were previously only available in English for users in the United States. This move marks a significant step forward in Apple’s strategy, as it addresses regulatory issues of the Digital Markets Law (DMA).

The expansion of these capabilities initially had been limited due to regulatory concerns, specifically compliance with the stringent Digital Markets Law. This milestone is crucial for Apple’s strategy to expand its AI-driven functionalities globally. With iOS 18.4, Apple aims to make its advanced AI tools accessible to a wider audience, fostering innovation and user engagement on a whole new level.

Apple Intelligence integrates a variety of AI functionalities in devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. These new functionalities include writing tools that allow users to improve texts through rewriting options, summaries and adjustments in tone and grammar.

Moreover, the application benefits from new functions such as the ability to search for images using natural language or eliminate unwanted objects from photos. These improvements show Apple’s commitment to enhancing user experience through sophisticated AI capabilities. Siri, the virtual assistant, has also been enhanced, demonstrating a greater understanding of natural language and providing a more fluid user experience. This natural integration of AI into everyday tasks like messaging and photo editing represents a significant advancement in user-centric technology.

The beta version of iOS 18.4 integrates these functions in several languages, expanding its use to regions of the European Union. This move will allow more users to enjoy these innovative tools, thereby enhancing interaction and accessibility. Apple has also added the option to search for images through verbal commands or even to write directly in Siri to obtain more precise answers. These features reflect Apple’s ongoing dedication to intuitive and user-friendly design principles.

Intelligent Notification Management

Another notable feature in the iOS 18.4 beta is the function of priority notifications. This tool organizes notifications intelligently, highlighting those considered most important and presenting them in a separate section on the lock screen. This way, users can quickly identify the most relevant alerts, which improves the everyday use experience.

This way users can immediately identify what’s important, thereby elevating their daily interactions with their devices. This emphasizes the importance of notification management in improving overall user experience and productivity. As an example, think of how handy it would be for college students to filter through various alerts to ensure they don’t miss out on important academic announcements.

Conclusion and Future Prospects

iOS 18.4 is compatible with the most recent iPhone models, including those of the iPhone 16 series, and is available for iPad with M1 or higher chip, as well as for MACs with M1 processor. The complete update is expected for April, which will allow users to enjoy all these new AI capabilities definitively.
For those who rely heavily on Apple devices, iCloud services are inextricably linked to the company’s success, providing a diverse range of features and capacities. As Apple continues to integrate new tools into its ecosystem, the release of Gemini, Google’s generative AI, aligns with enriching user experience, potentially integrating with Siri for complex tasks. However, this integration remains in the development phases, and users must wait for new updates to fully explore their capabilities.
