JAKARTA, Indonesia – September 14, 2025 – The Indonesian Ministry of Industry has issued four TKDN (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri – Domestic Content Level) certificates for the upcoming iPhone 17, allowing the product to be officially sold in Indonesia. The certificates where granted on September 11, 2025, following verification that the iPhone 17 meets the requirements outlined in Permenperin Number 29 of 2017, which governs the calculation of TKDN value.
Apple’s Commitment to Indonesia Extends Beyond TKDN
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita emphasized that the issuance of these certificates demonstrates Apple’s dedication to complying with Indonesian regulations and reinforces the company’s broader strategic investments within the country. These investments include the Apple Developer Academy and the Digital Talent Ecosystem Development Program.
“Apple’s investment continues in parallel with the issuance of TKDN certificates for iPhone 17. This proves that Indonesia remains a crucial partner for global companies in building innovation-based industrial value chains,” Kartasasmita stated on Thursday, September 11th, as reported by Niaga.Asia.
TKDN Reforms and Future Industrial Growth
Kartasasmita believes that ongoing TKDN reforms, coupled with commitments from global investors like Apple, will serve as the foundation for the growth of Indonesian national industries. The TKDN policy aims to increase the use of locally sourced components in manufactured goods, fostering domestic industry development.
“With TKDN reform, we want to ensure that the Indonesian industry does not only survive, but is also able to jump forward and provide concrete benefits for the nation and the people,” the Minister concluded.
