Apple unveiled a series of new AI-driven features and enhanced parental control tools during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, setting the stage for a fall software release. The updates, highlighted in a live blog by Investing.com South Africa, focus on improving user safety and integrating artificial intelligence more deeply into Apple’s ecosystem.
The company introduced advanced parental control features designed to give families greater oversight of digital activity across devices. These tools, part of the upcoming iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate updates, include real-time monitoring of app usage, content filtering, and customizable time limits for children. Apple emphasized that the features would be optional, allowing parents to tailor settings based on their child’s age and needs.
Alongside the parental controls, Apple previewed significant upgrades to its Siri AI. The voice assistant, now rebranded as “Siri AI,” received a major overhaul, including a more conversational interface and enhanced contextual understanding. The new version, referred to in some reports as “Siri 2.0,” is expected to integrate with Apple Intelligence, a broader AI platform that will offer personalized recommendations and automation across devices.
The AI advancements were accompanied by a partnership with Google, which saw Apple incorporating Gemini models into its services. This collaboration aims to strengthen Apple’s AI capabilities, particularly in areas like natural language processing and machine learning. The integration is set to launch alongside new hardware in the fall, according to a report by CNBC.
