Apple is expanding its retail footprint in Switzerland with the planned opening of two new flagship stores in Zurich and Geneva. The most significant expansion will occur in Zurich, where the company intends to open its largest Swiss branch to date.
By the end of 2026, Apple will move its Zurich operations from the current location at Rennweg to a new site at Lintheschergasse 7. This new flagship store is expected to feature approximately 2,000 square meters of sales area.
Zurich Expansion Details
The transition to Lintheschergasse represents a substantial increase in capacity for the company. The new 2,000-square-meter space will be nearly double the size of the existing store at Rennweg 43, which is estimated to have between 1,000 and 1,200 square meters of floor space.
The site at Lintheschergasse 7 was previously occupied by the fashion house Bayard until 2025 and is located opposite the Globus department store. The current store at Rennweg 43 is expected to remain operational only until the end of 2026.
This move follows a history of retail shifts in the city; Apple previously operated a branch on Bahnhofstrasse until 2019 before moving to the Rennweg location.
Geneva Flagship Development
In addition to the Zurich expansion, Apple plans to open a new flagship store in Geneva. This location is scheduled to open in 2027.
The Geneva store will also occupy a former Bayard retail space, located at Rue du March. This new facility is expected to provide 1,000 square meters of sales area.
Swiss Retail Network
These new flagship developments will complement Apple’s existing retail presence in Switzerland. Other active Apple Stores in the country include locations in Basel and Wallisellen, the latter of which is situated within the Glattzentrum.
The strategic increase in square footage in both Zurich and Geneva suggests a broader effort to enhance the customer experience through larger, flagship-style environments that can accommodate more products and services.
