The Apple Vision Pro headset is being utilized in various medical capacities, ranging from preoperative patient consultations in the United Kingdom to real-time data visualization during complex procedures in the United States.
In London, the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital has implemented the technology to assist patients suspected of having endometriosis. Using an application developed by Medical iSight, clinicians use the headset during pre-surgical consultations to show patients an AR model of the condition, helping them visualize the upcoming surgery.
Intraoperative Applications and Real-Time Data
Beyond patient education, the headset is being used as an augmentative tool within the operating room to provide surgeons with a hands-free interface. This allows medical professionals to access critical real-time data—including imaging scans, patient vital signs and procedural guidelines—without diverting their attention from the surgical field.
At Stanford Medicine, a cardiologist utilized the technology on March 1, 2024, to perform an ablation procedure to treat atrial fibrillation at Stanford Hospital. This application of spatial computer vision allowed the physician to streamline data visualization during the operation.

The adoption of this technology in the United States has expanded into other specialties. As of July 10, 2025, reports indicated the first series of minimally invasive general surgery (MIS) cases performed using the Apple Vision Pro headset in the USA.
Enhancing Surgical Training and Precision
The integration of mixed-reality headsets is also transforming surgical education. While traditional training typically relies on physical models, observation, and cadavers, AR allows medical students and surgeons to engage with highly detailed 3D simulations of procedures.
