Table of Contents
A longstanding limitation of the Apple Vision Pro has been addressed with the release of visionOS 26. Users can now input prism values from their vision prescriptions, and the operating system will adapt through software to provide corrected vision.

Previous Limitations with ZEISS Optical Inserts
Upon the launch of the Apple Vision Pro, a warning was issued regarding the availability of ZEISS Optical Inserts for those with prism in their prescriptions.
A very small percentage of people have a prism value added to their glasses prescription. At this time, ZEISS Optical Inserts based on a prescription containing prism value aren’t available. If you have a prism value, it will be labelled on your prescription and noted separately from sphere, cylinder, axis and ADD values. If you’re not sure whether your prescription includes prism, consult with an eye care professional.
Digital Prism Correction Details
With visionOS 26, this warning has been removed, and a new feature, Digital Prism Correction, has been implemented. Currently, this feature is available to users in the US and select US territories, including American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, U.S. Minor outlying Islands, and U.S. Virgin Islands. Users can access the feature through the Settings menu and select the option to “Add Prism Prescription.”
However, there are limitations to the Digital Prism Correction feature:
The Digital Prism Correction feature supports prism prescriptions up to 7.75 Prism Diopters (PD) in the horizontal and/or vertical direction – i.e., base-in (BI), base-out (BO), base-up (BU), and base-down (BD) – and the equivalent range in polar direction (0-359°), per eye.
Prism values are linked to the optical inserts, allowing for the use of multiple insert sets with a single device, and can be saved to a guest profile.
Here’s a table summarizing the Digital Prism Correction limits:
| Parameter | Limit |
|---|---|
| Maximum prism Diopters (PD) | 7.75 PD (horizontal and/or vertical) |
| Direction | Base-In (BI),Base-Out (BO),Base-Up (BU),Base-Down (BD) |
| Polar Direction Range | 0-359° per eye |
Looking Ahead
Apple’s continued support and expansion of the Apple Vision Pro‘s accessibility is a positive development. It is hoped that this feature will become available outside of the US in the near future.
