Apple plans to transform Siri into a full-fledged AI chatbot by the end of this year, marking the company’s entry into the race for generative artificial intelligence dominated by OpenAI and Google, according to Bloomberg.
The new chatbot, internally named Campos, will be integrated into iPhone, iPad, and Mac, replacing the current Siri interface. Users will be able to activate it likewise as the current Siri, by voice command “Siri” or by holding down the side button of the iPhone or iPad.
Campos will offer real conversations, modeled after ChatGPT or Google Gemini, far exceeding the capabilities of the existing Siri and even those planned for the 2026 update. The function will allow searching for details on the web, creating content, generating images, summarizing documents and analyzing uploaded files, as well as accessing personal data to find files, songs, calendar events and messages.
Apple intends to integrate the new siri into all major applications: Mail, Music, Podcasts, TV, Photos and Xcode, allowing users to perform complex tasks just by voice, from editing photos to drafting emails. Unlike other types of chatbots, Campos will be able to analyze the content on the screen and suggest useful actions and commands, such as making calls, setting timers or launching the camera.
The chatbot is expected to launch in September 2026, following a presentation at WWDC in June. The interim update Siri 26.4,with the existing interface, will include new features, such as analyzing content on the screen and accessing personal data, plus improved web searches.
