Apple’s Secret Sauce: 4 Months to Revolutionize Intelligence Features, Reveals Mark Gurman
Apple’s iPhone 16: What to Expect from Upcoming iOS Updates
Despite the highly anticipated launch of Apple’s iPhone 16, a key feature was noticeably missing: Apple Intelligence. While new features like Camera Control and Personalized Photographic Styles brought exciting experiences to users, the absence of Apple Intelligence was felt. However, the wait may not be as long as expected.
According to Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, Apple is working to release iOS 18.1 and 18.2 before the end of 2024. These updates will include major Apple Intelligence features, such as the new Siri interface, Writing Tools, Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and the Image Playground app. This move aligns with Apple’s roadmap for AI capabilities.
Gurman also reports that Apple plans to complete iOS 18.3 by the end of this year, with a release date set for January next year. This accelerated schedule suggests that most major Apple Intelligence features will be available within four months. The update may also include some of the new Siri features originally scheduled for iOS 18.4, which is expected to be released in March next year.
The new Siri interface is at the heart of Apple’s intelligence. Featuring an “elegant light that wraps around the edges of the screen,” many of the smart assistant’s upgraded features won’t be available until next year. Given Apple’s emphasis on Apple Intelligence as a key reason to buy the iPhone 16, it’s likely that the company will prioritize its release. iPhone 16 users can try out the first features by installing the iOS 18.1 beta, with the official release expected in mid-October.
