Appleton, Wis., is preparing for a significant​ heat wave this​ weekend. Following a chance of rain ​and thunderstorms Thursday⁣ night and Friday, the area will experience soaring temperatures.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Green Bay forecasts high temperatures in the mid-90s for saturday and Sunday, June 21-22. Monday,June 23,will see temperatures in‌ the low⁣ 90s. The heat index,wich factors in humidity,is predicted to ⁣range between 95 and ‌105 ⁤degrees ⁢on Saturday and sunday,creating potentially dangerous conditions.

The NWS also noted that overnight temperatures are not⁣ expected to​ drop below 70 degrees, offering⁤ little respite from the heat. This poses a particular concern for those ⁣planning to sleep outdoors.

The extreme heat is​ expected​ to ⁤last through‌ monday, June 23,⁢ before a slight cooling⁤ trend brings temperatures down to⁤ the upper 70s on Tuesday, June 24. There is also a 50 percent chance of rain on‌ Monday.
