The Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development (RAA-ED) has opened applications for its six-month, full-time online entrepreneurship programme, with a deadline of 15 May 2026.
Delivered through the Johannesburg Business School, part of the University of Johannesburg, the programme is designed to empower young people across Southern Africa with practical business skills, personal development tools and the confidence to pursue entrepreneurial ventures or career opportunities.
The initiative targets youth aged 18–35 who are passionate about entrepreneurship and committed to becoming economically active and socially responsible citizens, with eligibility restricted to applicants residing in South Africa and SADC countries.
Successful applicants receive a full tuition scholarship covering the programme fee of R35,000, funded by the Ackerman Family Foundation, and engage in structured coursework, workshops, and practical activities simulating real-world business environments from Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00.
The curriculum includes entrepreneurship training in business idea development and validation, innovation and strategy, marketing, HR, accounting, operations, technology, digital transformation, and 4IR concepts, alongside social media marketing and business pitching.
Personal development components cover mental health and resilience training, communication and presentation skills, career readiness and professionalism, and leadership, and teamwork.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a UJ Short Learning Programme Certificate equivalent to NQF Level 4.
The programme has an annual intake of approximately 60–160 students, with admission competitive and based on merit, requiring shortlisted candidates to progress to panel interviews.
