U.S. Embassy Tunis: 2025 Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars

The U.S. Embassy Tunis is now accepting applications for the 2025 summer Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Scholars. These intensive academic programs aim to deepen university faculty’s understanding of U.S. society, culture, values, and institutions. The goal is to enhance curricula and improve U.S. studies in foreign academic institutions.

Program Details:

  • Duration: Five to six weeks, starting June 2025.
  • Components: A four-week academic residency and an optional two-week study tour in the U.S.

Institute Themes:

  1. American Politics and Political Thought: Explore the influence of intellectual and political movements on American democracy and identity.

  2. Contemporary American Literature: Examine U.S. society through contemporary literature and understand diverse voices in the American literary landscape.

  3. Journalism and Media: Understand journalism’s role in U.S. society, strategies against disinformation, and the impact of technology on news media.

  4. U.S. Culture, Identity, and Society: Analyze U.S. society and culture through diversity and national unity, focusing on various cultural influences throughout history.

  5. U.S. Economics and Sustainable Development: Learn about the U.S. economy’s structures, sustainable development, and the role of institutions and policies in promoting equitable employment.

  6. U.S. Foreign Policy: Examine how U.S. foreign policy is shaped and implemented, studying historical influences and current trends.

Candidate Qualifications:
Candidates must be mid-career university teachers aged 30-50. They should be motivated, experienced, and proficient in English. Ideal candidates aim to introduce U.S. studies into their curricula, develop new courses, or offer specialized seminars on U.S. studies.
