Jakarta, Indonesia – More than 900 technology leaders and internet industry professionals from over 50 countries are converging on Jakarta, Indonesia, for the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) 2026, beginning Monday, February 9th, 2026.
The conference, hosted by the Asosiasi Penyelenggara Jasa Internet Indonesia (APJII), or the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association, represents a significant gathering for discussing the future of internet infrastructure and operations in the Asia-Pacific region. Participants range from local network operators to global technology giants including Google, Amazon, and Meta.
APJII Chairman Muhammad Arif emphasized the organization’s commitment to driving digitalization in Indonesia. “By hosting APRICOT, APJII also showcases the collective progress and contribution of nearly 1,469 internet service providers in strengthening the national internet infrastructure,” Arif stated.
The event’s agenda focuses on critical topics such as the latest advancements in internet networking technologies, cybersecurity, and the evolving digital ecosystem. Discussions will center on the operational aspects of the internet, including the management of Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and the transition to Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), a newer addressing system designed for long-term scalability.
Security will be a central theme, with attention given to routing security practices like Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI) and Mutually Agreed Norms for Routing Security (MANRS). These protocols are designed to protect data transmission routes from manipulation and ensure the integrity of internet traffic.
Beyond core infrastructure, the conference will address topics such as content delivery networks, network virtualization, network automation, and the security of data center infrastructure. Three intensive MasterClass programs are also offered: Advanced BGP, Practical Virtualization with Hybrid Strategies, and Practical Cybersecurity for Internet Operators, aimed at enhancing the technical skills of internet professionals in the region.
The choice of Jakarta as the host city underscores Indonesia’s growing importance in the global digital landscape. According to data presented by APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre), Indonesia has experienced remarkable internet growth over the past decade, with user numbers more than doubling to over 229 million.
Jia Rong Low, Director General of APNIC and a partner organizer of APRICOT, highlighted Indonesia’s leadership role. “Indonesia’s hosting of APRICOT demonstrates strong leadership and commitment to building a safer and more resilient internet,” Low said.
Keynote speakers at the conference include Budi Rahardjo, an Indonesian cybersecurity expert; Jim Cowie, a historian of the internet from Harvard University; and Jen Linkova, a Network Engineer at Google. Their participation signals the high level of expertise and international collaboration that APRICOT aims to foster.
Philip Smith, Executive Director of the Asia Pacific Network Operators Group (APNOG) and organizer of APRICOT, stressed the value of in-person meetings for maintaining a robust global internet. “Face-to-face meetings like APRICOT help internet operators expand their network of connections, making the global internet stronger and more resilient,” Smith explained.
The conference, which runs from February 4th to 12th, 2026, with the main conference sessions taking place February 9th to 11th, also includes technical training from February 4th to 7th, partner meetings on February 8th, and the APNIC Annual General Meeting on February 12th. The event is expected to contribute to ongoing efforts to improve internet resilience, security, and accessibility across the Asia-Pacific region.
