Money Laundering Operation

A fugitive wanted in Chile for laundering money for the “Tren⁣ de Aragua” criminal organization was arrested in Murcia, Spain, last Friday. According to⁣ a Red Notice issued by Chile,the individual ⁢was responsible for laundering funds obtained through ⁢scams⁣ and extortion. The suspect⁣ provided⁣ bank accounts and cards to receive illicit money, which was then‍ transferred to front companies used by the⁤ organization.

Chilean authorities estimate the total amount laundered exceeded $138 million ⁢USD.

Examination and Dismantling of Spanish Cell

The investigation leading to the arrest⁤ began in July, after Chilean authorities alerted Spain to the possible presence of the wanted individual within the country. This arrest follows a larger operation on October 29, 2025, ‍where Spanish authorities dismantled⁤ the ⁣first cell of the Tren⁢ de Aragua operating in Spain, resulting in ⁢13 arrests.

The October 29th operation saw ⁣arrests in Barcelona (8 individuals), Madrid (2), and Girona, A coruña, and Valencia (3 individuals).
