Aragua’s Heartfelt Homage: Celebrating the Legendary Juan Arango
Juan Arango Honored with the Order of “Samán de Aragua” in its First Class

Juan Arango, also known as “La Zurda de Oro,” received the prestigious decoration of the Order of “Samán de Aragua” in its first class from the government.
A well-deserved tribute was paid to Juan Arango at the Hermanos Ghersi Páez Olympic Stadium in Maracay, recognizing his outstanding football career with Vinotinto and various clubs. The event was attended by notable sports figures, including Nehomar Matías, Renny Vega, and Cesar “Maestrico” González.
The tribute took place after the conclusion of the high-performance camp “Return to our roots,” promoted by the Performance 318 academy. Juan Arango, Renny Vega, and Cesar “Maestrico” González coached over 100 Aragüeño children during the camp, which was part of a tour that began on Monday and ended at the CPD Aragua headquarters.
As part of the tribute, Juan Arango received the decoration of the Order of ”Samán de Aragua” in its first class, the highest award given to outstanding figures in the state. This recognition was made possible through a decree issued by the governor of the state.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures, including Aragua state governor Karina Carpio, Aragua FC president Luiyer Barreto, IRDA president Jorge Briceño, and other regional government officials.

Juan Arango was also honored with the naming of the “Juan Arango” square within the facilities of the Hermanos Ghersi Olympic stadium. The players of CPD Aragua and their captain Ángel Chourio were present during the ceremony. Ángel Chourio expressed his admiration for Juan Arango, saying “You are our idol, and you deserved this recognition a long time ago.”
Juan Arango expressed his gratitude to those present, stating “I didn’t expect this tribute. My intention in coming to Maracay and Venezuela is not only to train children but also to train coaches.” He concluded by saying “I hope this can serve as an example to raise Venezuelan football.”
