Ariana Grande has announced her eighth studio album, Petal, set for release on July 31 via Republic Records. The album marks her first full-length project since the 2024 release of Eternal Sunshine, following a period dominated by her role as Glinda in the Wicked film franchise.
Petal was executive produced and co-written by Grande and longtime collaborator Ilya Salmanzadeh, known professionally as ILYA. The Swedish-Persian producer has worked extensively with Grande on previous albums, including My Everything, Dangerous Woman, Sweetener, Eternal Sunshine, and thank u, next. The album is described by Grande as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” reflecting a more organic and introspective creative direction.
The announcement comes as Grande prepares to embark on her first extensive tour since 2019. The Eternal Sunshine tour kicks off on June 6 in Oakland, California, and is expected to feature material from Petal. In a 2025 interview on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, Grande hinted that the upcoming tour could be her last for an extended period, stating, “The last 10 or 15 years will look very different to the ones that are coming up.”
Album Details and Pre-Order
Petal is available for pre-order in multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, cassette, and a direct-to-consumer exclusive LP variant. The album’s cover art, photographed by Katia Temkin, has been released alongside the announcement. Grande has been teasing the project for weeks, sharing studio footage and cryptic messages on social media.

The album follows the commercial success of Eternal Sunshine, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and spawned two consecutive Hot 100-topping singles: “yes, and?” and “People can’t be friends (wait for your love).” Grande has achieved eight consecutive platinum albums and amassed over 125 billion global streams throughout her career.
Beyond Music: Film and Theater Projects
Grande’s recent focus has extended beyond music. The Wicked film franchise, in which she stars as Glinda, has grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide and earned her nominations at the Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs. The sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set for release later this year.
In addition to her film work, Grande is slated to appear in Focker-In-Law, the latest installment in the Meet the Parents franchise, alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. She is also set to make her West End debut in a production of Sunday in the Park with George and lend her voice to an animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go!.

The announcement of Petal arrives amid a period of significant professional transition for Grande, who has balanced her music career with high-profile acting roles and theatrical ambitions. The album’s release in July will coincide with the ongoing Eternal Sunshine tour, offering fans a blend of new and familiar material.
