Grande, fresh off her Oscar nomination for “Wicked,” will play a “ball-busting woman” engaged to the son of Stiller’s character, according to reports. Sources indicate Grande sought a comedic role after her success with “Wicked,” which grossed over $750 million.
John Hamburg, who co-wrote previous films, will direct.Blythe Danner and Teri Polo are reportedly in negotiations to return as well.
Producer Jane Rosenthal hinted at the plot earlier this week. “Ben Stiller is now the same age that Bob was when we did the first one, and his kids have grown up, and they have to come home and meet the parents,” Rosenthal said, emphasizing the generational shift.
