palm Springs, CA – Ariana Grande will be honored with the Rising Star Award at the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival. The award recognizes her captivating performance as Glinda in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway hit, Wicked.
The ceremony will take place on January 3rd at the Palm Springs Convention Center, kicking off the festival which runs from January 2nd to 13th.
Festival chairman Nachhattar Singh Chandi praised Grande’s performance, stating, “In wicked, Ariana Grande’s portrayal of Glinda elevates her to new heights with a powerful acting performance that beautifully combines her outstanding musical talent, brilliant characterization and impeccable comedic timing. Billboard‘s Joe Lynch, who initially questioned Grande’s acting abilities, was blown away by her performance. “No one with ears could question grande’s pipes, but based on her acting credits, we simply didn’t know if she was capable of filling Chenoweth’s small but mighty heels.
