A cornerstone of Arsenal’s strategy is affordable ticket pricing. Historically, women’s clubs sometimes gave away tickets, which didn’t always translate to attendance. Arsenal, though, decided against free tickets, emphasizing the professional nature of the game. Early bird tickets for the next season will range from $13.50 to $18 for adults, significantly less than tickets for men’s games.
According to Slot, affordability is key to attracting new fans, especially those experiencing the Emirates Stadium for the frist time.”Lots of people want an entertainment experience and, in London, finding that for a group of you is quite hard at an affordable price,” Slot saeid. ”So when we were really pushing the tickets from a price [perspective] people think ‘oh, that’s actually something I can afford to do.'”
The 2023-24 season saw two sell-out crowds at the Emirates, with approximately 60,000 fans attending six WSL matches. This included setting three league attendance records. Slot identified weekend matches at family-friendly times and the opponent as crucial factors for sell-out games.
Arsenal also leverages the traditional rivalry with Tottenham, specifically targeting communities in north London. “Their perception is that Arsenal-Spurs is a really big game and we built on that,” Slot said. This strategy resulted in a record WSL attendance of 47,367 in 2022-23, a sell-out of 60,050 in 2023-24, and their highest attendance of the 2024-25 season, with 56,784 fans.
Last season, Arsenal increased the number of matches at the Emirates to nine, but the average attendance slightly decreased to around 29,000. Despite this,Slot remains optimistic. “I think we did really well last season,” Slot said. “The thing for me,is to maintain sustainable growth.So I would rather regularly have 29,000 than have one sell-out and then lots of 10,000s. We are building this sustainable audience.”
