Arthur Fils Withdraws From French​ Open Due to Injury

Arthur Fils,⁢ the No.14 seed, has pulled out ​of the French‍ Open as⁣ of an injury, organizers ⁣announced Friday. His withdrawal leaves no French competitors remaining in ⁤the Roland-Garros draw. Fils had ⁣been scheduled to face No. 17 Andrey Rublev in the third round on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Fils had previously discussed experiencing back pain during his second-round match against Jaume Munar on‌ Thursday.Despite the⁣ discomfort, he managed to secure a win.

‌ ⁤ ⁢ “Got some issue with the back, but​ that’s as I’m young so‍ I’m used to (it),” Fils said⁢ after his match against Munar.⁢ “And also the cramps. A bit ⁢of everything. The mix was not very ‌good.”

When asked if he would be ready to play Rublev, Fils had expressed hope. Ultimately, the ⁢injury proved too significant, forcing his withdrawal from⁤ the French Open.
