This Sunday, September 7th, marks a significant occasion for Letterkenny artist Sinead Gallagher. After more than 20 years as a professional painter internationally, she returns to Donegal to unveil her inaugural solo exhibition in the county.
The ‘Home Shores‘ exhibition, featuring abstract expressionist paintings, will be held at the Lifford Old Courthouse, with an official launch scheduled between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.
This event is particularly meaningful for Gallagher, who spent over two decades living and working in Germany and North america. She recently relocated to Kilcar with her husband,filmmaker and poet Marc Littler.
gallagher explains, “Drawing inspiration from the rugged Atlantic coastline of Donegal and the urban landscapes of Berlin and Frankfurt, my work reflects a dialog between place and feeling. Color plays a central role in this process; it frequently enough emerges first, setting the tone and guiding the unfolding composition.”
“I aim to create paintings that evoke mood and atmosphere through layered shapes and subtle references to the natural world, inviting viewers to connect with their own memories and sensory experiences.”
