Warships from across Southeast Asia participated in the ASEAN Multilateral Naval Exercise (AMNEX) 2025, culminating in a Fleet Review off the coast of Penang, Malaysia on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The event showcased regional cooperation and commitment to maritime security.
The Royal Malaysian Navy hosted the exercise, which included 10 naval vessels from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The Philippine Navy’s frigate, BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151), was among those participating. GMA Integrated News reported on the event,highlighting its significance for regional stability.

Upcoming Sea-Phase Activities
Following the Fleet Review, the ASEAN navies will engage in a series of sea-phase exercises designed to improve interoperability and operational readiness. These exercises include:
- Maneuvering Exercise (MANEX)
- Replenishment at Sea Approach (RASAP)
- Publication Exercise (PUBEX)
- Flash Exercise (FLASHEX)
- Night Steaming in Company (NISC)
- Screening Exercise (SCREENEX)
AMNEX 2025 began last week with a series of joint drills aimed at enhancing cooperation, coordination, and overall readiness among the participating ASEAN navies.
