A number of universities, especially in Asia, are providing transfer opportunities for Harvard international students facing enrollment restrictions. These institutions are stepping in to support students affected by evolving global academic policies.
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) extended an open invitation to current Harvard students and those with confirmed offers. HKUST said the initiative aims to cultivate a diverse learning habitat, offering unconditional offers, simplified admissions, and academic support.A dedicated team and email hotline have been established for prospective students.
Hong Kong authorities have encouraged local universities to support Harvard’s international students, who constitute over a quarter of the university’s student body, many from mainland China and Hong Kong. Secretary for Education Christine Choi Yuk-lin said Hong Kong universities should utilize increased quotas for non-local student intake.
Other hong Kong institutions, including City university, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, have also offered support. City University said it would invite original supervisors of Ph.D. students to continue as co-supervisors.
