A number of universities, especially in Asia, are providing transfer opportunities for Harvard international⁤ students facing enrollment restrictions.‍ These institutions are stepping in to support students affected by evolving global academic policies.

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) extended an open invitation to current Harvard students and ‍those with confirmed offers. HKUST said the initiative aims to cultivate a diverse⁣ learning habitat, offering unconditional offers, simplified admissions, and academic support.A dedicated team ⁢and email hotline have been established for prospective⁢ students.

Hong Kong authorities have encouraged local universities to support Harvard’s international students, who constitute over a ⁢quarter of the university’s student body, many from mainland China and Hong Kong. Secretary for Education⁢ Christine Choi⁤ Yuk-lin said Hong ⁤Kong‍ universities should utilize increased quotas for non-local student intake.

Other hong Kong institutions, including City university,‍ the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, and Hong Kong‍ Polytechnic University, have also offered support. City University⁢ said it would invite original supervisors⁢ of Ph.D. students to continue as co-supervisors.

In Japan, the University of Tokyo is considering temporarily⁢ accepting international students barred from Harvard. ⁢The university⁣ launched a program in 2022 to host students and researchers affected by ⁤Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, providing accommodation, financial support, and counseling.

Pang Chuan, the university’s⁢ vice president, said⁤ Macau is willing and able to help these students, and credits earned at Harvard can be transferred to universities there.

Sunway University in ‍Malaysia welcomes Harvard international students to transfer promptly, according to Sunway Education Group’s CEO Elizabeth Lee.Lee added that Sunway University, located in⁢ Petaling Jaya, ⁢partners with Arizona State University and can assist with transferring credits to ASU or a Sunway university degree program.
