Aston Martin has reintroduced the Vanquish as the new flagship of its front-engined sports car range, positioning the model as a high-performance halo vehicle. Announced on September 2, 2024, the return of the Vanquish nameplate marks the introduction of the most potent flagship in the company’s 111-year history.

The vehicle is powered by a new front mid-mounted 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 engine. This all-alloy engine features a quad overhead cam and 48 valves, utilizing water-to-air charge cooling and dual variable camshaft timing. The engine’s combustion chambers are fully CNC machined, and it is paired with a fully catalysed stainless-steel exhaust system equipped with cross pipes and a compression ratio of 9.3:1.

Performance and Engineering

The new V12 engine generates a maximum power output of 835PS (824bhp) at 6,500rpm and a maximum torque of 1,000Nm between 2,500 and 5,000rpm. These specifications allow the Vanquish to reach a top speed of 214 mph (345 km/h), which is the highest maximum speed for any Aston Martin series production car. The vehicle accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.3 seconds.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a rear-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic ZF transmission. The chassis has been updated with an 80mm increase in wheelbase to balance supercar performance with refined comfort. Technical highlights of the handling system include Bilstein DTX dampers, an Electronic Rear Differential (e-diff), and 21-inch Pirelli P ZERO tyres specifically developed for Aston Martin.

The body of the Vanquish is constructed from a full carbon fiber shell, including the bodysides, door outers, and an inset hood. This is supported by an extruded bonded aluminum body structure. The vehicle’s exterior is further defined by Matrix LED high- and low-beam headlights featuring auto high beam (AHB), integrated direction indicators, and lock/unlock graphic theater, alongside LED light blade taillights.

Interior and Luxury Specifications

The interior is designed as an ultra-luxury space, featuring a full-length panoramic glass roof and a bespoke, state-of-the-art infotainment system. The cabin is configured with 2+0 GT seats within a two-door body style that includes a decklid.

Interior and Luxury Specifications

The vehicle’s physical dimensions include a length of 4,850 mm and a width of 2,044 mm. It has a curb weight of 1,910 kg and provides 248 litres of trunk space. In terms of efficiency, the Vanquish III 5.2 V12 has a fuel economy of 13.7 l/100 km (approximately 17.2 US mpg) and CO2 emissions of 312 g/km, meeting Euro 6 standards.

Production and Availability

Aston Martin is limiting the production of the Vanquish to fewer than 1,000 examples per year to maintain ultra-luxury exclusivity. Following the announcement in September 2024, the company scheduled the first deliveries to begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
