Asus ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro: High Prices Deter Gamers in Weekly Poll

Last week, a poll highlighted the issues with the new Asus ROG phones. Many voters consider the devices too costly. The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro appears more appealing, despite its higher price, as it offers better features compared to the standard ROG Phone 9.

The poll results show that more users are interested in the ROG Phone 9 Pro than in the ROG Phone 9. However, both models struggle to attract interest, as other gaming phones have gained more popularity according to the poll responses and comments.

The Asus ROG Phone 9 Pro has some support, but its premium price keeps many gamers at bay. Competing products, such as the Asus ROG Ally and Valve Steam Deck, provide access to a vast library of PC games at lower prices, making them attractive alternatives.

Support for the Asus devices has also drawn criticism. Asus offers only two OS updates and four years of security patches for phones priced over $1,000. This limited support discourages potential buyers. Additionally, the locked bootloader restricts gamers who prefer custom software options.

The design changes from previous ROG models have also disappointed some fans. Older ROG Phones featured front-facing speakers, while the latest versions require a case for optimal sound. The new design includes a punch-hole camera, a shift away from the unblemished screen of earlier models.

Asus’s brand, Republic of Gamers, can set higher prices, but it must deliver quality and features to justify these costs. Currently, the ROG Phone 9 and 9 Pro do not provide good value for money.
