CANNES, France (AP) — The Cannes Film Festival continues with highly anticipated premieres and the⁢ return of a beloved ⁢figure. Thursday’s lineup features two films competing for the prestigious Palme d’Or, alongside⁢ a special ⁤presentation.

Films in Competition

Two new films are vying for the Palme d’Or: ​ woman and Child by Iranian director Saeed Roustaee, and resurrection ‌by Bi Gan.⁢ Roustaee’s drama tells the story of Mahnaz, a 40-year-old nurse‌ and single mother whose pursuit of ⁣justice after a tragic accident leads‌ her on a quest for compensation.

The⁤ cast includes Suzanne ​Lindon,⁤ Paul ‌Kircher, Vassili ⁣Schneider, Julia‍ Piaton, Cécile de France, Sara Giraudeau, Vincent Macaigne, and⁣ Zinedine Soualem.
