According to NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip rivera, four men in a vehicle pulled up to a group of about 15 young people waiting in line for a private event. The suspects then opened fire, unleashing approximately 30 shots before speeding away.
Ten victims, ranging in age from 16 to 20, were rushed to nearby hospitals.Thankfully, all are expected to survive, suffering injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
“This was a brazen act of violence that has no place in our city,” said Chief Rivera during a press conference thursday morning. “we are working tirelessly to identify and apprehend those responsible.”
The NYPD is currently investigating the motive behind the shooting and is looking into the nature of the private event taking place inside the Amazura Concert Hall. Authorities are also examining whether the venue was operating within legal capacity limits, as Chief Rivera stated the event was “full” with approximately 90 people inside.
