Venezuelan official Diosdado Cabello reported on Wednesday that approximately 100 people had died and a similar number were injured consequently of recent military operations. Cabello stated that the casualties included civilians, specifically women in their homes, impacted by bombing.
The Cuban government previously announced on Sunday that 32 of it’s citizens, serving with the Cuban Armed Forces and interior ministry, were killed “in combat actions” during the same operation. It remains unclear whether these deaths are included in Cabello’s reported figure of 100.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump had stated that no U.S. service members were killed, though some sustained injuries when a helicopter was hit during the operation.
